Success... Thank you!!
Hockey Day in Essa - The 3rd annual year of the event was a huge success.  Like any event you can only do it when countless volunteers come together to support it.  We are so fortunate to have an association full of volunteers willing to give up their time to make the day a memorable one for the kids.   Essa Minor Hockey Association would like to extend a very warm, heart-felt, massive THANK YOU to Tom Brown and Tim Wardell for running the Skills Development and enduring the cold for us ALL DAY long.

Without the two of you the day wouldn't of been possible.  The kids had such a great time, you could tell by the smiles going ear to ear.

We were fortunate to have some Midget volunteers to help demonstrate and guide the smaller skaters.  Thank you Cole Moore, Brett Matthews, Nick Hatton, Sean Ismond & Bradley Lewis.

Alana McConnell and Kim Powers were kind enough to take pictures of our players.  You can access their pictures here for the Bantams & here for the evening events on Saturday.

Thank you Athena Nakonecznyj and Cindy & Tabitha Patry for manning the entrance table all day long even with the cold breeze blowing through the doors.  Tabitha & Taras Nakonecznyj helped keep the energy going in the timekeepers box with music and scorekeeping thoughout the events.  Thank you to Meagan Halupka & Tiffany Hart who helped teams to keep track of their points while going numb in the arena.

The gym was full of vendors all day long we hope you got a chance to check out all they had to offer.  Thank you to Kelly Matthews who watched over our Silent Auction tables all day long in the gym.  Thank you to everyone who bid on our prizes and thank you to everyone who donated prizes.

Thank you to our wonderful coaches and managers who were on the ice helping their teams.  Having you on the ice was helpful to Tom & Tim and the kids appreciated your guidance.  To those of you who participated in the game it was very entertaining to watch.  There were some memories we won't soon forget.

The skills finale was fun to watch and we hope everyone enjoyed seeing the teams and goalies face off.  We tried to make this years event a fun experience for everyone and would love to hear your feedback.  If you have any thoughts or suggestions for ways we could improve for next year please take the time to follow our survey monkey link.

The evening game was a fast paced energetic game where our midgets got to square off against local dignitaries and experienced hockey players.  Dr. Kellie Leitch was on hand to drop the puck and say a few words. Our power skating coach Jason Robinson was just one of the many individuals to give up his time to come and support Essa Minor Hockey.  Brandon Winch was the voice of the evening who kept the game running and added entertainment... and managed to keep it clean for the second year in a row ;) Thank you to our other referee Conrad Halupka who was on hand for the coaches game and the midget game.

Thank you to Lisa Boos, Trevor Bolt & Sandi MacDonald of the Township of Essa.  Without their constant support and dedicated hours this event would never of happened.  The Angus Paper has published an article about the success of our event.
On behalf of the Essa Minor Hockey Association, thank you to everyone you made time on Saturday to be a part of Hockey Day in Essa and make it a success we really appreciate it.

THANK YOU!
